The diagnosis of “lymphoma” sounds scary, but is it worth being afraid of it? The MedicGlobus team is sure that it is not. Today, 90% of people with Hodgkin’s lymphoma cross the 5-year threshold with quality and timely treatment, and 80% live more than 10 years. And even non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas can be successfully controlled in 70-80% of cases. In some cases, treatment can be mild and without much side effects. In this article, we will tell you where to go for lymphoma treatment and how much it costs.
Listen to the article:
What types of lymphoma treatment are provided abroad?
Lymphoma is an oncological disease that develops from cells in the human immune system. Cells affected by cancer do not perform their protective function and do not die. Often they accumulate in lymph nodes or other organs and form tumours. Depending on what type of disease the patient has been diagnosed with, the course of treatment will vary.
There are about 30 varieties of lymphoma, which are divided into Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s. In Hodgkin’s lymphoma, microscopic analysis of the tumour cells will reveal special Reed-Sternberg cells. On average, Hodgkin lymphomas are more frequently detected in the early stages, and they have a favourable treatment prognosis.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Hodgkin’s lymphoma is formed in lymphocytes – white blood cells. In most cases, the disease affects B-lymphocytes. They destroy hostile organisms that enter the body.
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is more common in adults, but it also occurs in children. It can affect B- and T-lymphocytes. Usually, foci are formed in lymphocytes, but skin lymphoma is also possible.
All types of lymphoma treatment are available in countries with advanced medical care. Patients are most often treated for these diagnoses:
Diffuse B-Cell Lymphoma
This is the most common form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Diffuse B-cell lymphoma is an aggressive form of B-lymphocyte cancer. It is most often found in patients over 60 years of age.
Follicular lymphoma
Follicular lymphoma belongs to non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. It develops slowly and forms follicles (tumours) in different parts of the body – bone marrow, lymph nodes and internal organs.
Burkitt lymphoma
Burkitt lymphoma is a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is most commonly found among people in Sub-Saharan Africa, patients with the Epstein-Barr virus and chronic malaria.
How much does it cost to treat lymphoma abroad?
The total cost of lymphoma treatment is formed based on the prices of certain therapy methods. Depending on the type of lymphoma, stage of the disease, age, the general condition of the patient and the aggressiveness of the disease, chemotherapy, tumour irradiation and immune- and targeting therapy may be used for treatment.
The main method of treating lymphoma is chemotherapy.
The cost of lymphoma treatment depends largely on whether or not stem cell transplantation is needed. Autologous stem cell transplantation, i.e. the patient’s cells, may be needed for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma if chemotherapy has developed resistance and it is necessary to increase their dosages.
In this case, the patient’s bone marrow is destroyed, and cell transplantation is necessary to restore it. In the 4th stage of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or its recurrence, a bone marrow transplant from a donor may be needed, which is more expensive than autotransplantation.
For patients with severe relapses of lymphoma, there is a modern treatment method – CAR-T therapy. It is a procedure during which doctors genetically modify T-lymphocytes to fight against cancer. This therapy is particularly effective in the treatment of diffuse B-cell lymphoma. CAR-T therapy is an expensive treatment. Among foreign countries, it will cost the least in China.
Having a general idea of the treatment methods that the patient will need, we can give you an approximate cost of treatment. However, it can be adjusted by choosing the same quality of care in different countries. For example, an alternative to more expensive Israel and Germany would be Turkey, South Korea and India.

Treatment of lymphoma in Israel
All treatments for both Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma are available in Israel. Lymphomas are a group of blood cancers that affect the bone marrow and reduce the patient’s immunity. Lymphomas are divided into Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin ones. The type of disease affects prognosis and treatment.
The success of lymphoma treatment abroad reaches 95% if the disease was diagnosed on time. The international MedicGlobus platform can arrange lymphoma treatment in top-class clinics in Turkey, Spain, South Korea, Israel, Germany and India.
The main lymphoma treatment method is chemotherapy. In some cases, the patient may need a bone marrow transplant. Doctors also use radiation therapy, targeting therapy and immunotherapy.
The cost of treatment depends on what kind of treatment plan the medical team will make. In general, treatment in Turkey, Korea and India costs less, while in Israel, Germany and Spain it is more expensive.
