Fibrosarcoma is a soft connective tissue cancer. Tumors can be found in any part of the body, but the usual locations are the lower and upper limbs. According to SEER, this type of sarcoma accounts for 3.6% of adult cancers. Most patients are between 30 and 60 years old. Early symptoms include pain, swelling and limited mobility of the limb. Early detection contributes to a favorable prognosis.

Every year more than 5 thousand people seek fibrosarcoma treatment in Germany. In the medical centers, the patients are observed during all stages of treatment by a team of multidisciplinary doctors. As a result, each client is provided with an individual therapy plan that takes into account all their personal nuances and peculiarities.
The basic course of treatment is supplemented by chemosensitivity-increasing prescriptions. This increases the effectiveness of chemotherapy and improves susceptibility to therapy
Before prescribing treatment, the doctor discusses the complaints and analyses the patient's medical history. A detailed examination determines the location of the tumor and the presence of metastases in the lymph nodes.
Correct diagnosis remains one of the most pressing issues. Fibrosarcoma is often misdiagnosed as regular bone cancer, which delays the start of proper treatment. The following tests are performed for an accurate diagnosis:
X-rays help accurately determine the size, position, and tumor infiltration depth. .
Computed tomography (CT) allows for an examination of the affected body area and possible lung metastases in bigger detail.
Magnetic resonance therapy (MRI) determines the relationship between tumor, nerves and blood vessels for the surgery.
Positron emission computed tomography (PET) is a modern research method that provides information about the biological activity of the tumor.
Biopsy - tumour sampling procedure for laboratory tissue analysis.
Blood, urine testing and an electrocardiogram can be prescribed as auxiliary tests.
The treatment depends largely on the individual factors of the patient - his age, cancer stage, size, location and depth of the tumor, presence of metastases, etc. Based on this, the patient may be prescribed radiosurgery, radiotherapy, targeted drug therapy or chemotherapy.
The international standard for soft tissue cancer treatment. The degree of invasiveness of the operation depends on the size of the formation, its location, and malignancy. Usually, surgeons also remove the surrounding healthy tissue due to the tendency of this type of cancer cells to spread. In the case of large (>5 cm) tumors, the operation may be accompanied by subsequent radiotherapy with ionizing radiation.
Rarely used as a stand-alone treatment due to the resistance of fibrosarcoma to radiation. This procedure can be performed before the operation in order to reduce the incidence of neoplasms. A significant advantage of the method is that irradiation does not harm the surrounding healthy cells.
Used to stabilize the tumor and prevent remission. It can be prescribed both before and after the surgery. The advantage of the method is that chemotherapy can destroy circulating cancer cells that are not detectable on imaging. Bigger efficacy is observed in patients in the late stages of the disease.
One of the most promising areas of study for the treatment of connective tissue sarcoma. Accompanying usage of drugs helps eliminate the usual radio- and chemotherapy resistance of this type of tumors and significantly increases the overall effectiveness of treatment. Patients' survival rate increases by 4-11%
The prognosis of treatment depends largely on the stage at which the sarcoma was detected. Early treatment contributes to better prognosis and more gentle treatment. At a low degree of malignancy 5-year survival rate is 50-80%. In the late stages of the disease, this figure drops to 30%.

The cost of oncotherapy depends on many criteria: the stage of the disease, the location of the tumor, the qualifications of the attending physician and the level of the clinic. You can find out the individual cost of fibrosarcoma treatment through your MedicGlobus coordinator on +380 63 514 49 56
