Clinic Review
Ankara Memorial Clinic belongs to the Turkish Memorial Hospitals Network. Opened in 2014, it is the tenth clinic within the network. The doctors there treat over 1,500,000 patients yearly.
The three strongest specializations of the clinic are radiotherapy, heart surgery, and orthopedics. Here the surgeons perform minimally traumatic heart and vascular surgery, the safest radiation therapy and radiosurgery, and treat 1-4 stage cancer.
Representatives of the clinic meet the patient at the airport, arrange transfer to the clinic, and provide an interpreter.
Joint Commission International accredited Ankara Memorial with its certificate, which is considered the most prestigious recognition among clinics.
ANKARA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Ankara Memorial Hospital is one of the largest clinics in the network. The hospital covers an area of 42,000 m2. It has 230 inpatient beds. A quarter of the clinic's premises consists of intensive care wards. There are 63 medical departments.
The center has 11 modern operating theatres. They use special LED lamps based on liquid crystals, which prevent thermal radiation and comply with international sterilization technologies. There also are hybrid operating theatres, equipped to perform minimally traumatic operations.
SECOND OPINION OPPORTUNITIES AT THE MEMORIAL NETWORK
For the entire Memorial network, there is a single secure database of patients' medical records, diagnostic images, and test results are stored. If a patient needs the opinion of another doctor who practices at the Memorial network of clinics, they can easily contact him and get his opinion. This system allows one patient to consult with doctors in different places without traveling long distances.
Signing up at any Memorial center, you gain access all the resources of the network.

Features of the Clinic
DIAGNOSTICS AT THE ANKARA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Ankara Memorial Medical Center offers a state-of-the-art 256-bit CT scanner. It generates 3D color images of internal organs and is completely safe for patients' health.
Magnetic resonance imaging at the clinic is 70 centimeters wider than usual. This allows patients who are overweight to successfully undergo MRI diagnostics. A wider CT scanner does not cause claustrophobia in patients due to space constraints.
Magnetic Resonance Tomography and CT scan cabinets are designed using Ambience Technology. It provides a quieter scan than a conventional CT/MRI and does not cause anxiety or distress to the patient.
DIAGNOSTIC AND TREATMENT FIELDS AT ANKARA MEMORIAL
breast cancer;
prostate cancer;
lung cancer;
stomach cancer;
liver cancer;
leukemia (acute and chronic);
myeloma;
skin cancer.
Ankara Memorial Hospital offers chemotherapy. The clinic has 12 special treatment boxes and 1 VIP ward.
The main advantage of oncology treatment at Ankara Memorial is access to radiation therapy on the linear accelerators TrueBeam STx and Elekta Versa HD. Unlike their counterparts in other clinics, these devices work faster, and the patient spends less time exposed to radiation.
TrueBeam STx is the most modern existing radiotherapy device. Compared to its counterparts (IMRT, IGRT, IMRT), it is more powerful and safer. The full course of treatment is 5 times shorter: instead of 20 sessions, the patient gets 4-5 courses. Each session takes 3 times less time: 5-15 minutes instead of 40.
For radiosurgery, doctors use Elekta Versa HD (CyberKnife and Gamma Knife). In this case, the patient gets 1 course of therapy with very high doses of radiation. It is the most precise device for tumor destruction: it adapts to the patient's movements and directs the irradiation with an accuracy of 2 to 5 cm. A 4D visualization is available for physicians to improve accuracy.
BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT AT ANKARA MEMORIAL
The Memorial Clinic Network is a leader in transplantology. More than 350 bone marrow transplants to adults and children are performed here every year.
Oncologists at Ankara Memorial Hospital perform autologous and allogenic types of transplants. The clinic cooperates with the International Blood Bank, which allows to quickly find a donor for transplantation.
Ankara Memorial Clinic offers 12 sterile rooms for patients who have undergone bone marrow transplants. Each ward has HEPA air filters, which minimize the risk of infection. Patients are under constant medical supervision, and in case of complications, they will be quickly provided with first aid.
HEART SURGERY AT ANKARA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Every year the department performs over 1,400 cardiac surgeries with 99% success. Surgeons at Ankara Memorial perform various types of procedures:
heart bypass surgery;
enhanced external counterpulsation;
pacemaker installation;
coronary angiography;
balloon angioplasty;
stent angioplasty.
Ankara Memorial Hospital offers the safest treatment for coronary heart disease with means of enhanced external counterpulse. This is a non-surgical method. The patient's blood flow is improved by using special air cuffs on the legs, which are filled with air in the diastole phase.
Hybrid operating theatres allow for minimally invasive heart surgery, i.e. without incisions. Instead, surgeons make several punctures on the chest and install a thin catheter through them. Such operations do not require long-term anesthesia, and the rehabilitation period is reduced to 2-3 months. This is especially important for patients at an age for whom conventional heart surgery can be dangerous.
Ankara Memorial Clinic performs a coronary bypass using the laparoscopic method, i.e. in a non-traumatic way. This is possible thanks to the Aesop robotic system. Aesop is an automated arm with a video camera controlled by a cardiac surgeon. It allows the surgeon to study the heart from all sides and to operate more accurately.
ORTHOPEDICS AT ANKARA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Ankara Memorial treats congenital joint diseases and the consequences of injuries that are difficult to treat. Non-traumatic surgeries with low risk of complications are performed here:
joint replacement;
hand microsurgery;
arthroscopic surgery of knee, shoulder, ankle and hip joints.
PEDIATRIC CARE AT ANKARA MEMORIAL
Doctors at Ankara Memorial Clinic love children. The department is designed in a way so that little patients do not feel like they are in a hospital.
Ankara Memorial Hospital is thoughtfully organised. The departmenti is divided into two sections: in one, doctors examine sick children, and in the second one is for preventive examinations and check-ups of healthy children. This way, healthy children do not risk getting infected.
