The Carl Gustav Carus opened at 2003. It is one of the leading cancer centers in Germany.
In 2007 the Dresden University Hospital Cancer Center received the “Best oncology center” from German Cancer Aid Society (DKH).

Since 2019, the doctors of the department use MRI-3 Tesla to monitor the patient’s state during the surgery. This makes the department one of the most technologically advanced in the country. This allows to control the surgeon’s movement during the tumor resection and minimize the risks.

The hospital is located nearby the Dresden city centre. The travel distance from the airport is approximately 11 km. One can get to the hospital by car or public transport. Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe stop in 50 m from the main entrance to the diagnostic center of the hospital. Trams 6 and 12 are within a walking distance. In weekdays they pass every 10 minutes.
